This is the doodle that started it all.
I had carried around this drawing book for almost a month and finally one day I decided to discipline myself into drawing one doodle a day, freehand, no sketching, and within 30 minutes. I chose 30 minutes because I tend to overwork my art and it gave me a finishing point.
Knowing I need to create something finished in 30 minutes actually makes the task less stressful. It also makes me think about the drawing as a whole while also making me concentrate. It makes me draw more thoughtfully—each line and shape because there is no chance in erasing. The pressure is in trying to draw something every day and without too much repetition. Often I find myself staring at the blank page, not knowing where and when to start. Other times, I’ll wake up at 3 in the morning because an idea popped into my slumber.
