It was a very difficult piece to do and to finish. Originally I titled it “Leaves and Things” and then a few days after I finished it and started to recover from the torture of finishing the piece, I gave it the name “Deception of Pretty Things”. Here’s why: I never felt that when we see something beautifully done that we appreciate what goes into the process. Just like ballet, you only see what’s pretty. This piece has that deception because it’s “whimsical”, “fantastical”, and colorful. All things that you don’t associate with being maniacal, torturous, time consuming, painful, or thoughtful. A LOT went into creating DPT but mostly it was the torture of making my self stay with it and finish. Now, it is one of my most favorite pieces ever, if not my most favorite.
